For many of us, autumn translates to cooler, crisp weather, warm, cozy sweaters, fall foliage, and everything pumpkin (pumpkin spice latte, anyone?).
The fall is also an emotionally rich time of year. Getting back to school, preparing for the end of the year, and meeting those final deadlines are just a few reasons why the autumn is such an important time for us.
But with the holiday season just around the corner, the fall is also an excellent time to get organized and prepared for one of the busiest times of the year.
Get organized for fall this year with these 8 easy tips.
8 Ways to Get Organized for Fall
1. Update your morning routine. A solid morning routine can set a positive tone for the rest of the day. However, your morning routine may need some adjustments throughout the year, and the fall is no exception. Whether it’s switching out your usual iced coffee for a warm, dark roast, or adding in a few extra minutes to meditate upon waking up, refresh your morning routine for the fall season. How you start your morning can either make or break your day.

2. Make a master family schedule. Create a master family schedule this fall. Include all important events: doctor appointments, meetings, travel days, dinners with the fam, etc. Essentially, put everything on it as soon as it’s scheduled. This way, youll know exactly what lies ahead without having any events “sneak up” on you.

3. Keep your calls and texts to a minimum. If you find that you’re constantly talking on the phone or texting, consider allotting a specific amount of time out of your day that is just for using your phone (e.g., an hour). Let your voicemail get the rest of your calls throughout the day (minus the urgent ones), and let non-emergency texts wait. You’ll find that it’s much easier to stay productive (and focused) when your phone isn’t constantly distracting you.
4. Purge your wardrobe and donate your clothes. As we head into the cooler months of the year, this is a good time to also go through your closet and organize your clothing. This means going through your clothes, and donating whatever you don’t want or need anymore. Plus, this is also a great opportunity to update your wardrobe and switch out your summer clothing for more wintry wear.
5. Check in on your goals. With the holidays just around the corner and the New Year soon to follow, the fall season is a great time to reassess your goals and see how far you’ve come this year. Reflect on where you are now versus this time a year ago. What’s changed? What goals have you accomplished? Which ones have lost their relevance? Think about adjusting your goals accordingly and update the ones that you’re still working on. Once you’ve identified which goals you still have left, write up a to-do list and stick to a timeline. You got this!
6. Clear away the clutter. The key to staying productive and organized is to sync your workspace with your mindset. Think about it. How hard is it to focus when everything looks and feels messy and disorganized? Pretty difficult, right? Get organized for fall by tidying up your workspace, cleaning up your bedroom, going through your files, etc. Clear away the clutter in your life, and you’ll find it’s that much easier to stay focused.

7. Give all your belongings a home. It’s all too easy to leave things out and let them pile up simply because you don’t know where to put them. Give your things a proper home so you know exactly where to put them away when you’re finished with them. Get creative with storage baskets, labels, and making use of extra space. It’s much easier to stay organized and on top of things when you know where everything belongs.
8. Make a fall bucket list. The fall season is one of the most beautiful times of the year with plenty of activities that you wouldn’t be able to do normally (who wants to carve a pumpkin in the summer?). Make a list of things you really want to do this fall, and commit to doing them. Schedule them in as you would an important meeting. The fall season will be gone before we know it, so start planning!
