Whether it’s the summer changing to fall, or the winter changing to spring, every seasonal transition comes with its own set of challenges, particularly in regards to skin care. 

Acne, rosacea, and eczema flare-ups are all common during seasonal changes, which can lead to compromised and volatile skin. 

Additionally, seasonal allergies tend to exacerbate the skin. For example, the spring season introduces a host of new allergens and pollen into the air, which can lead to unsightly rashes and irritations. 

Fortunately, there are ways to combat the seasonal changes and their effects on our skin. Learn how to transition your skincare between the seasons with these 6 tips. 

How to Support Your Skin During Seasonal Changes

1. Invest in a home air purifier. It’s not uncommon for allergies to flare up when the seasons change, particularly from winter to spring. Invest in a good air purifier for your home to help remove airborne irritants like pollen and dust. This will help to reduce common skin reactions like puffiness and redness. 

2. Support your liver. Your liver is crucial for detoxifying the body. Support your skin from the inside-out by eating plenty of cruciferous vegetables (e.g., broccoli, brussel sprouts, etc.). 3. Always wear sunscreen. As the seasons change and the weather begins to warm up, it’s essential to wear sunscreen regularly, particularly if you suffer from sensitive skin issues. Rosacea and acne are prone to flare-ups between the seasons, but sunscreen can help to alleviate their symptoms. 

4. Repair your skin’s barrier with a restorative mask. For skin that is prone to irritation, opt for a soothing, restorative mask that will help to repair and heal. Choose a mask with simple, nourishing ingredients, like Manuka honey.

5. Opt for antioxidant-rich ingredients. Antioxidants are key for repairing and restoring the skin’s barrier. When selecting skincare products, opt for those that contain antioxidant-rich agents, like vitamin C, rosehip oil, or black currant seed oil. 

6. Hydrate. While you probably won’t need super rich creams and moisturizers for spring and summer, this doesn’t mean you should neglect hydration altogether as the weather warms up. Use hydrating facial mists like rosewater, and follow up with a light moisturizer that quickly soaks into the skin.
