How often have you wished you were more of a morning person?

Maybe it was the last time you were running late to work and had to skip breakfast. Or maybe it was this morning when you hit the snooze button five times.

The mornings can be tough, especially if you’re not a morning person to begin with. Fortunately, there are a few, simple changes you can make to become more of a morning person. Learn how with these 7 tips.

6 Easy Ways to Become More of a Morning Person

1. Get up and get moving. While the idea of working out first thing in the morning may sound pretty unappealing, working out (especially in the morning) packs a ton of healthful benefits into your day. Not only does it make you more likely to eat healthier throughout the day, but it also elevated your metabolism and energy, and consequently your productivity. Whether it’s a quick jog around the neighborhood, a Pilates workout on YouTube, or a brisk walk with a friend, take a few minutes in the morning to get moving.

2. Eat a yummy, healthy breakfast. Nourish and energize your body with a healthy, delicious breakfast. Pick protein filled foods like eggs, Greek yogurt. Or add in some healthful toppings to oatmeal, like nuts, cinnamon, coconut flakes, or fresh fruit. Make your breakfast an indulgent, healthful treat that you look forward to.

3. Get some rays. One of the best ways to wake up and enjoy your morning is to soak up some sunlight. Not only will the vitamin d give you a mood boost, but it will also energize you for the day ahead.

4. Always have something you can look forward to in the morning. Whether it’s your vanilla latte that you like to make in the morning, a few minutes of meditation, or reading the paper as you sip your coffee, make sure you always have something to look forward to in the morning. It’s a lot easier to get excited for the morning when there is something you’re looking forward to.

5. Hydrate, then caffeinate.  Prevent dehydration throughout the day by hydrating first thing in the morning. Not only will drinking water right away in the morning wake you up, but you’ll also feel more alert and productive throughout your day. Once you’ve adequately hydrated with water, then switch to your caffeine drink of choice.

6. Put on your happy playlist. One of the best ways to wake up in the morning is to put on upbeat, happy music.  In fact, research had found that music, specifically tunes with  heavy bass, can engender feelings of confidence and power, which is a pretty solid way to start your day.
