There’s no denying that there are certain areas of our homes that tend to get a lot dirtier faster. These areas may be magnets for dirt, bacteria, mites, etc., so it’s worth it to spend a few extra minutes cleaning these areas on a weekly basis.

Curious as to which places they are? Read on to learn which spots of your house you should be cleaning every single week.

5 Things You Should Clean on a Weekly Basis

1. Your bathroom sink, counter, and toilet. When you add up all the time you spend in your bathroom, whether it’s showering, getting ready for work, getting ready for bed, chances are that you spend quite a bit of time in there. The bathroom sink, toilet, and countertops accumulate a ton of dirt and bacteria throughout the week, so be sure to wipe them down with an antibacterial cleanser. Also, be sure to wipe down whatever is resting on your counter (e.g., toothbrush holder, your hand soap dish, etc.).

2. Your fridge. The fridge houses all the food you’ll be eating throughout the week, so this is definitely a place you’ll want to clean on a weekly basis. Make it a habit to wipe up any spills as they happen. Or better yet, when you stock up your fridge for the week, give the shelves a spray and wipe down.

3. Your keyboard and/or laptop. For many of us, we work on a computer nearly all day, every day, meaning that they tend to pick up a lot of bacteria and dirt throughout the week. Use a can of compressed air and spray between the keys. Then, use a sanitizing wipe to go over the surfaces.

4. The most frequented entrance to your home. The entryway to your home is where you pass through every time you go in or out, and consequently it collects a lot of grime there. In fact, most of the dirt that comes into your home enters by way of the front door, or whichever entrance we use most often. As a result, your home can get a lot dirtier when this area is not cleaned frequently. Sweep the floors or vacuum, mop, and give any rugs or mats a good shake.

5. Your bed sheets. We spend hours every night in our beds, so it’s understandable that our sheets pick up a lot on a nightly basis. Skin flakes, sweat, and not to mention dust and dust mites are just some of the things that build up quickly in our sheets. Wash your sheets weekly to keep your bed clean. This will help to remove allergens from your sheets, while also disinfecting them.
