We all wish we could be that person that wakes up on Monday morning refreshed, clear-headed, and prepared for the week.
However, for a lot of us, Monday mornings are pretty rough.
(Read this for tips on how to make the most of your mornings).
You may hit the snooze button at least five times before you can convince yourself to get out of bed.
Or after a late night of Netflix, you may need three cups of strong coffee before you consider yourself a normal, functioning human being.
Or you may find yourself scrambling for breakfast in the morning, and ultimately you have to settle for that smashed granola bar at the bottom of your purse.
Setting yourself up like this for the week is stressful, and usually does not contribute to a productive, successful week.
If you’re looking for ways to make your weekdays not only easier, but also more efficient, here are seven of the best things you can do on Sunday to prep for a productive week.
7 Things to Do on Sunday to Get Ready for the Week
1. Hit up your to-do list and calendar. Nothing is worse than starting your Monday only to realize you have five meetings back-to-back in the morning. Do yourself the favor, and run through your calendar for the week, along with your to-do list. By simply going over what you need to accomplish this week, in addition to what you have scheduled, you’ll feel far more mentally prepared to take on the week.
2. Catch up on your laundry. This is pretty self-explanatory, but put on your adult pants and get the laundry done from the previous week. Not only will you have a far better selection of outfits to work with for the new week, but you’ll also smell oh-so-good.
3. Stock up on healthy foods for the week. If your fridge is more empty than not when you come home at the end of the day, then make it a Sunday routine of yours to stock your fridge with healthy foods for the week. This way, you’ll eat healthier throughout the week, you’ll feel better, and you’ll actually save time by not having to make extra trips to the store.
4. Organize your purse. If you’re a secret hoarder like me, you probably tend to collect the most random items in your purse throughout the week. Keep yourself organized by cleaning out your purse and throwing out whatever receipts, freebies, smashed granola bars and gum wrappers you may have stashed in there.
5. Cook yourself a healthy dinner. Fuel yourself for the week with a healthy, satisfying meal Sunday evening. If you’ve got a busy week ahead that includes late nights and meals out, you’ll be thankful that you started out your week on a healthful note.
6. Tidy up the place. While you don’t need to go into full-on, deep-cleaning mode, simply tidying up your place will set the tone for a more productive week. Studies have shown that simply decluttering your space can make you feel more relaxed and efficient, so take a few minutes to spruce up your home.
7. Find some way to relax. We all have our mini routines for self-care. Maybe you like to curl up with a good book for the afternoon. Or maybe you like to soak in the tub. Or maybe you like to spend time making dinner with your family. Whatever you enjoy doing that brings you peace and relaxation, now is the time to do it before the week begins.
