Our lives are the sum total of the habits we choose to adapt. Whether it’s working later in the evenings to catch up for tomorrow, drinking coffee late in the afternoon to stay sharp, or skimping on sleep, it’s habits like these that vastly influence the quality of our lives.

That’s not to say that all of our habits are inherently bad. You may have a solid morning routine that both wakes and refreshes you for the day ahead.  Or you may be a gym junkie that loves nothing more than to work out and stay fit.

That being said, the routines we have can either positively or negatively affect our health and quality of life.

Luckily there are ways we can easily enhance the routines and habits we already have established to be more healthful. If you’re looking for ways to quickly and effectively boost your health and wellness, look no further than these 7 ideas to add in to your daily routine.

1. Take a cold shower. if you’re looking for a quick way to boost your wellness routine, taking a cold shower is a great way to get started. Cold showers have a plethora of benefits. They have been proven to have immune boosting powers, and even promote anti-depressive effects. Take a cold one at the beginning of your day, and you’ll also find that they provide you with a natural source of energy.

2. Drink a cup of green tea with lemon in the morning. While your go-to for caffeine in the morning is most likely coffee, try starting your day with a cup of green tea and lemon before transitioning to coffee. Green tea has a number of health benefits, including memory enhancement, making it an excellent way to healthfully start your day. Plus, adding lemon makes it easier for your body to absorb all of green tea’s nutrients.

3. Pop a probiotic. Probiotics are a fantastic way to give your stomach some love. They aid in effective digestion, and can help to keep tummy issues (e.g., bloating) at bay.

4.  Add nourishing ingredients into your smoothie. Boost your smoothie with nourishing ingredients. Try coconut oil or chia seeds for their fatty acids. Or cacao powder for its antioxidants. There are number of awesome superfood add ins that will add both extra flavor and health benefits to your smoothie.

5. Squeeze in a few exercises over lunch. One way to keep yourself both healthy and sharp throughout the day is to squeeze in some exercise around the middle of the day.  Go on a walk, do some lunges, or even hold a plank for thirty seconds.  You’ll find that any exercise will also recharge you for the second half of the day.

6.  Drink a calming tea in the evening. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to maintaining your health and wellness. To ensure a restful sleep, try drinking a relaxing tea in the evening. Chamomile, valerian root, lavender, and lemon balm are all great options.

7. Take magnesium at bedtime. If you find it difficult to unwind and relax at the end of the day, try taking magnesium. Magnesium is a naturally calming supplement that can help you to effectively relax before bedtime.
